FISHING ON PRINCE OF WALES ISLAND
Along with the beautiful landscape, the coasts and rivers of Prince of Wales Island lie home to various fish and wildlife ready to be caught on your self-guided fishing trip. Some of the most common and sought after species found near Coffman Cove are salmon, halibut, red snapper, and trout, but the list of Alaskan wildlife extends far beyond the few mentioned. The best time to visit Coffman Cove is during the spring and summer when fish are most plentiful!

WILDLIFE ON POW ISLAND
Prince of Wales Island is home to abundant wildlife on land and in the sea. In addition to the great fishing, Coffman Cove is a great destination for whale watching, hiking, and exploration of the beautiful landscapes Alaska provides. Common sightings are black bears (no brown bears on the island), sitka black-tailed deer, and gray wolves. You may also have the chance to see bald eagles and their rivals ospreys diving in to catch salmon- truly a sight to see. Last but not least, Alaska is know for some of the best ocean animal sightings! Your trip out to sea could be joined by humpbacks, orcas, belugas, porpoises, dolphins, otters, and much more. Prince of Wales Island provides sights and activities for the whole family!
